Ceiling height in the attic is not maintained! What are my rights?

Hello everyone.

About a week ago, the screed was installed in our single-family house. Now I have measured the clear room height of the upper floor and found that the heights do not match. Keep in mind that drywall panels + floor coverings still need to be installed. The planned room height was 2.40m on the upper floor. Currently, we are already at about 2.37m on average in all rooms. The shell construction dimensions are correct so far; the problem seems to be the substructure for the drywall. This was designed very generously. (6cm thick counter battens) + 2cm thick cross battens.

We are building with a general contractor in NRW.

Can someone tell me what rights I have?

Regards, Tobias

Let's leave the matter of rights aside, that's not so simple. But if the shell dimension is correct, then everything should still turn out well. Talk to your site manager about it, ask him to explain how the clear room height will be achieved in the end. (Possible solution: modification of the substructure. What was planned?)

I wanted to address this with him on site today! Can I insist on a dismantling?

Yes, certainly. Insist on your clear room height! With determination! It can still be changed quite easily.

Thank you very much for the feedback. I will address it and hope that this intervention does not hinder the further construction progress too much. Of course, several trades are involved, plasterers, etc.
