Wow, now I can slowly understand your concerns. As an allergy sufferer, I have no connection to the little animals at all and therefore cannot understand all the fuss. There are cats that are deliberately and regularly stolen because they are valuable?! Unbelievable! The "golden cage" really becomes a reality for Kitty there.

Yes, unfortunately. The breeding of animals with health issues has to get their "material" from somewhere, preferably without paying anything. But that is only one side. Often, there are also just people who feel pity and want to rescue the poor abandoned animal or simply find it pretty and take it with them. The classic mutt is rarely looked at compared to the pretty Sacred Birman, which lounges in the sun.

Alex, a pedigree cat, easily costs between 700 and 1,000 euros. Sometimes even more. For that, vaccinated, neutered, and medically examined.

Take a look, among other places, at the large online auction house to see how much money look-a-likes from "loving" hobby breeding are paid. Without papers, every cat is a bratwurst.

Especially with fashionable breeds, good money is made by breeding. What doesn’t sell gets disposed of. One of my tomcats also comes from such a disposal.

And to the owners, their four-legged friends simply grow on their hearts. I couldn’t be without velvet paws anymore. I haven’t had any foster cats from animal welfare for 3 years, I just can’t manage it timewise anymore, but my own tigers are always welcome.

Take a look at the Savannah breeding. For Generation 1 to 4 animals, you easily pay around 10k. So if you have a cat that looks very similar, it becomes dangerous for her.

I have a pedigree cat from a breeder with papers (Norwegian Forest Cat) and one from animal protection (but long-haired and also stunningly beautiful and "visually special"). Ours do go outside for free-roaming. We live so beautifully and close to nature here, and our house will be built just two streets away, so the surroundings are suitable there as well. Fortunately, no cat has ever been stolen here - I've never heard of anything like that happening anywhere in this whole town or the neighboring towns. Cats occasionally disappearing unfortunately does happen... but this affects Lastramis just as much as pedigree cats or lookalikes, so I rule out theft.

However, one should never forget that free-roaming can ALWAYS be dangerous. We had to learn that painfully this year... one of our cats was hit by a car and died. She was also a pedigree cat. Unfortunately, something can always happen... and even though no cat had been run over on this street for decades before... mine was unfortunately the first :(. I can therefore understand why many owners don't want to let their kitty outside. Despite my painful experience, I would still grant free-roaming if the environment is not obviously unsuitable.
