Carport attached to the house wall (lean-to carport), or would you prefer it to be freestanding?

We have a beam on the wall for a (really massive) wooden carport with an extensive green roof. I believe it was calculated together with the entire house statics. After one year, I can now see nothing on the wall. However, the carport wood is certainly subject to some expansion and contraction. At the time, I found all the foundations to be huge.

We also didn’t want any beams "in the way." But I think in the end, one would quickly get used to them.

We have a freestanding wooden carport, about 6x6 meters, roughly. There are three side posts each, so at the front, the back, and one in the middle. I park in such a way that I don't hit the door directly on the middle post, so there is enough space to get in and out. With a depth of 6 meters, you should be fine with a middle post as well.

freestanding 6x5m carport. One drives in forwards, the other backwards. This way everyone gets out on the inside. Between the vehicles there is still about a good meter of space (estimated), also as a passage to the garden/terrace/garbage area.
