I would never do grass grids. They are just totally ugly and impractical with the many holes.
I originally thought of flower-gravel-lawn for the driveway, but then discarded it and preferred to pave it. Mainly because of the issue with snow removal. For a visitor parking space, however, I would find that absolutely OK. Behind the house there is also a path planned, which I want to lay as BSR; hopefully I will finish it this week. Gravel 0/16, then 2cm of compost will be leveled on top and everything compacted. Seeding then with a mixture for flower-gravel-lawn. Conventional gravel lawn differs from BSR in that gravel lawn usually has 50% topsoil mixed in and is mainly seeded with grasses. BSR has a high proportion of herbs and due to the higher gravel content it should silt up significantly less.
For grass grids there are these filler stones, so there are no holes. At least, if you want to drive on it with vehicles, it is more practical than gravel or gravel lawn or BSR.
