I might phrase it a bit differently. So, down in the basement we have an inaccessible boiler room with the (gas) system. This system or pump emits loud operating noises which can be clearly heard. I have this operating noise in the apartment, especially in the bedroom. The high-frequency noise comes from the walls and not the radiator itself. When I hold my ear to a pipe down in the basement, I hear a flow and the vibrations.
