Buy property or leave it?

How can one find out if the property actually has a catch/defect? I am unfortunately completely inexperienced and have no technical or craft-related understanding.

Hello,

my suggestion would definitely be to have a soil survey with foundation recommendation conducted before the property is possibly purchased.

With this report, you will also get reliable statements from the civil engineer regarding the costs.

That's how I had imagined it too. I will ask if the [gemeinde] will reserve it for us and then have an expert come. Yesterday I already contacted a few experts and asked for prices. One offer is currently €7,850 for 2 drillings. If they find oil, that's okay, but otherwise, I find that very expensive? What should such an expert report cost?

Um, typo or comma misplaced?

Our soil survey with three boreholes and foundation recommendation cost us exactly EUR 821.00... :confused:

Perhaps an oversight or serious intent to deter customers.

Sorry, that can't seriously be meant. In 2014, we obtained four quotes, all between EUR 750.00 and EUR 1,200.00.

The EUR 7,850.00 + VAT :confused: seems a bit outrageous to me, as a layman.

I'm curious to see what other users can contribute...
