After careful consideration, weighing all the pros and cons, we have decided to sell the house as soon as we have contractually completed everything related to the land purchase and construction.

I mentioned this during the consultation at Interhyp, and the advisor told me that I could not transfer the construction financing to the new project, would have to pay the prepayment penalty, and take out a new loan.

That can't be right, can it?

Clear answer: It depends!

If you sell your house, you have to repay the financing. Period!
However, if the bank agrees that you use the new property as collateral, the financing can be transferred. That is solely at the bank's discretion. You have no entitlement to it.

Maybe the payoff with the prepayment penalty is also an attractive option?! You have to do the math.

She presented it as if it wouldn't be possible at all. I had read about the transfer once..

We would have to calculate how much VE would really be due.

Well, the people at Interhyp aren't really that interested. The only ones who have an interest are the current bank.
