Hello,..

I just found this forum on Google, and so far I really like it. So first of all, hello to everyone!!

Now to my question

So,.. I bought a garden. The "shed" that was on it I have now torn down. Now it is slowly moving towards rebuilding. As a base, I will probably pour a ring foundation 80 cm deep. On top of that, I want to pour a 15 cm slab.

The house will then be 4.50m wide and 8m long. The height should be 3.80, the living area downstairs should have a ceiling height of 2.20m, above is then the sleeping and storage area. There will be a flat roof on top.

I would like to build the whole thing with 17cm Ytong blocks.

What do you think about that??

How does it work with Ytong? I have read that you can't / shouldn't really insulate with it. So I would apply plastic plaster from the outside. Is that enough??

I would be very grateful if some of you can give me a few helpful tips!

Thank you very much..

Regards Markus

Federal Allotment Garden Act

In the allotment garden, a simple hut with a maximum floor area of 24 square meters, including a covered open seating area, is permitted; Sections 29 to 36 of the Building Code remain unaffected. It must not be suitable for permanent residence based on its condition, especially its equipment and furnishings.

Just for your information!!!

Regards, thommi

Yes, however, in my case it is private land, with a special permit, since the old house was that large. This is contractually regulated. So it can be considered as maintenance of the old house!

But that would be another topic... I am more interested in information about the [o.g.] topic..

Yes,.. I want to build it myself. So I have already built a similar house there with a friend, but made of wood. He also has such an ominous ceiling height in the sleeping loft. I don’t want to use it for much more than that, it’s not intended that I stay there forever. It’s just for weekends in the summer, or on vacation.

My consideration is either wood or Ytong. With wood, I would use 12 cm beams, or build a beam frame, and use construction poles around it. These are 4 m long, 25 cm high, and 5 cm thick. Then Styrofoam and plaster, and maybe insulation wool from the inside.

Oh, regarding my "Etage 2" I am also not completely sure yet, I’m a bit afraid that the Ytong blocks might become unstable at that height. A friend of my girlfriend will soon be an architect, but I can only ask her at the end of September, so I wanted to get some advice here already.

Thanks in advance for the reply..

Regards Markus

Hi Moppi!! Well, that's a thing, but first of all I would agree with Thommi regarding building regulations and so on!! The next thing is, how do you come up with Ytong??? Have you ever calculated what it costs you with Ytong stones?? and last but not least, 17.5 seems very unstable to me.. without various reinforcements you won't achieve much.. Best regards.

I don’t want any architectural work here either, I just wanted the question about the insulation to be answered, and to know if the 4m height with 17.5´er Ytong is still stable.

@Schakal

So I looked around a bit in that area, and most people used Ytong. Most used 17.5, but from my perspective it didn’t really seem that stable. Otherwise, just googled a bit.. That’s why the question about the insulation. Also – very strangely thought – a relatively easy material to work with, not much work due to the insulation,...

Well, let’s see, first pour the concrete, then we’ll see...

Best regards
