I hope I posted the topic in the right category here?

A few months ago, when an acquaintance told me that not only diesel from construction vehicles but also entire pallets of building materials were stolen, I thought it was a joke. Now I am affected myself and am at a loss for words with so much audacity.

We are currently building a house and the shell is already standing. And we didn’t think anything of it when we stored all tools and building materials (bags of cement, glass wool, stones, etc.) in the shell.

Now it’s gone... stolen during the night... and no one saw or heard anything!

Hello Sebi,

theft at construction sites has been an issue for us for a very long time. We have already recorded several break-ins. Construction trailers and containers are no longer safe either, as they are usually broken into. And some people wonder (and are amused by it) why concrete mixers are hung on cranes at some open construction sites.

In the meantime, we have hired private security services....

hi,

as far as I know, you can get insurance for this. that would probably be advisable in any case, then you get everything that was stolen.

best regards,
Mara ;)

Hi!

I have already heard from acquaintances that even entire building materials like bricks, wood, or even construction machines have disappeared. You come to the construction site in the morning and want to mix new cement first, only to find that the mixer is gone. Nowadays, you apparently have to chain and guard everything. Sad, but true.

Best regards
the handyman

hi

it has even come to the point that things are being stolen from the construction site in broad daylight. the thieves are getting bolder. what I don't understand is something like this happens in the middle of the city and no one sees anything? either they act so skillfully that people who might notice think they belong to the construction site or people look away.

Yes, I have also experienced that the thieves come from within our own ranks. Which means: construction helpers are not always honest construction helpers. Back then, we had one who regularly tampered with our small construction machines. Drill, grinder, etc. and as it turned out later, he didn’t even put them in his private workshop, but sold them on Ebay.
