Since we are now renovating, and the old insurance contains some outdated or incorrect information and I am somehow worried that the insurance would refuse payment in the event of a claim.... and I would like to have building and fire insurance in one contract.... I am currently looking for a new building insurance, but the construction type of our house somehow is not covered...

The first problem I have is with the construction class, what is correct for a house that is half solid and half timber frame?
Then it is apparently impossible to find insurance for a house with a partial wooden facade...
One insurer (Huk) only asks if everything inside is covered with non-combustible material in this case, I was already happy about that, but they also require all water pipes to be renovated, otherwise insurance is not possible.
But we don’t have that, so the search goes on...

Our old contract states that the house is solid, which is only half true. And a photovoltaic system has been added. I am also quite sure that the facade (wood) was not taken into account, so I currently believe I have no insurance coverage at all. Now it has even been increased to 320 euros per year – WITHOUT fire insurance, which is extra (another 130 euros).

Slowly I would really like everything in one contract, but apparently that is impossible for my house, either it says "no offer possible" or it becomes super expensive. Does anyone have a good tip on where you can insure wooden facade houses/prefabricated houses well without emptying your pockets?

I would recommend calling the insurance companies or finding a broker. Often they are not quite as digital as the website – you won’t be the first with something like this.

Building insurance with proper additional conditions just costs.... I would also suggest that you find a seasoned broker. He is paid by the insurance company.

I also recommend you - turn to a proper advisor. Whether a broker or an individual representative is up to you. Usually, they should already have appropriate experience with this building type. If not, they at least know who to call (at least it should be like that).

It might be a few euros more expensive than on the internet. But you get it just the way you want it. Besides, you make the representative happy because he gets to earn a few bucks for once .

Are there also independent insurance brokers like financial brokers, or do they always belong to a specific insurance company? I generally don't know much about insurance matters. I need to read up on that first. Thanks to you all in advance!
