I wouldn't see it that negatively, but it's not easy either. Definitely bring on board an architect well connected in the community. In our area (Ostbayern), the new house for the children next to the old family homestead is almost standard. According to an employee of our municipality, the [Kiff] is often drawn along with the manager's apartment.

My husband and I would definitely go to the responsible authority at least once and ask for advice. We would not be building on a ,,Grüne Wiese’’ but simply demolishing a building and using the land differently. Our house would then serve to maintain the forestry operation, because otherwise we would be forced to give up the farmstead, which has been in my family’s possession for decades. We simply cannot renovate the ,,Elternhaus’’ as it would exceed the costs and effort. Additionally, during the renovation period, 5 people would have to move elsewhere. Furthermore, our house would fit into the image of the farmstead and a connection through the shared heating system would also be established. Maybe this makes your assessment a little more positive.

Perhaps the architect could make a sketch showing the new farmstead in the style of the original year of construction,
and not a super modern, unsuitable block as a new building.
Even the Berlin City Palace got a curtain facade.

There was a recent amendment to the Building Code intended to make it easier for children to build on their parents’ property.

In the BR show „Traumhäuser“ there was recently an episode in which someone in Bavaria built a house in an old Jura barn. Maybe something like that would be possible?

Yes, that would be absolutely no problem in the interior area.
