The house is 12 years old and actually could stay as it is now, but we want a different room layout, so renovation is necessary, and once walls and doors are torn out, it gets damp and cold... especially with the weather.

....then I would simply just heat and ventilate. A construction dryer would be a bit too much of a good thing.

How was it again with the cannons and the sparrows?

Hello everyone,

so that I don’t have to start a new thread, I’m reactivating this one.

Last Tuesday/Wednesday the cement screed was laid/poured at our place – so it’s basically one week old today.

I was inside briefly on Sunday to ventilate a bit and yesterday in the sun with my wife again.

[haben keine Fußbodenheizung] – and the normal heating system probably won’t be fully installed for another 1-2 weeks.

Currently foggy/gray/1-4°C outside.

I have read so many different pieces of information – one should first remove moisture from the screed by ventilating only for 2-3 weeks before heating?

With the weather outside, no moisture is being released or absorbed at all.

Dehumidifiers are said to only work down to about +5°C?

Would you maybe have a tip for me on how to get more moisture out of the house?
Wait until the 2-3 weeks are over and then run dehumidifiers/space heaters on double shift?

Best regards
Chris

The person from the rental service did not hand over the construction dryer to us after learning that our cement screed has only been in place for 9 days. The site manager also said – minimum 14 days to dry naturally, of course. Only start ventilating after about 3 days at the earliest.
Air exchange with tilted windows: 0.4%, 10 minutes of shock ventilation brings 40%!
Nevertheless: we set up a hygrometer: on sunny days (early November) we achieved 20% less air humidity in 10 minutes, in recent days only 3% less during the day, in the evening it even rises.
Construction dryers work from 5 degrees (better), yes.
What does your site manager say about this topic???

so, our previous site manager has meanwhile been sidelined due to lack of competence. the new site manager has to correct his mistakes and can hardly keep up. that’s why I asked the craftsmen myself – you usually get better information.

the screed layer said I can come in on Saturday.

some idiot with shoe size 30-32 already made it possible on the 2nd day to enter the screed – I took photos – luckily a 3D imprint – just dirt. however, the room is secured with a construction door – I wonder which craftsman brought his child or possibly allowed the neighbor’s boy in??

I only went inside on Sunday – after checking at the door with my fingernail and then with the key to see if anything was moving.

I requested the ventilation plan again today.

does airing out briefly even make sense with the fog outside? the air is surely ultra-saturated?

regards chris

I say yes, it even increases more ... since we have just finished ventilating and are waiting for the underfloor heating to activate, we naturally did some reading ... but with this humidity at the moment, I wouldn’t know either.
But a construction dryer after 14 days – it really sucks the water out – it’s fun to watch if you’re patient
