Maybe we are talking past each other; that can happen. There is indeed a concrete staircase included at the price of the standard staircase with most general contractors. However, this only applies to the bare concrete staircase _without_ covering and _without_ railing. Railing and covering must be purchased at an extra cost or created as a DIY project.

... and that would then be something you can confidently take on, I think :)

I misread :(
I got stuck on the steel.
I mean the steel stringer staircase!

Sorry for the confusion!!!!

Best regards in brief

"Standard": Steel stringer staircase with wood (tread) steps 1st surcharge: Concrete staircase, solid, with wood steps 2nd surcharge: Risers made of wood 3rd surcharge: Cantilevered constructions, glass, etc. Always naturally from-to, depending on wood, surface treatment, etc.

And steel construction as own work ... formwork, reinforcing, casting, painter-ready surface ... Never, ever ... ;-).

What you can do yourself, if you have time and talent: treads and risers. But with winding stairs no longer trivial.

The built-in closet under the stairs can possibly also be done as own work.

Exactly. That’s where I give up, to expect that from a staircase-building virgin – ambition alone is not enough.

I have measured the treads and risers for our half-turned concrete staircase. Simply measuring is so difficult/time-consuming that I would not do it myself again.
