At temperatures around 5 degrees, the strength of the mortar is significantly reduced and the bond is disturbed. The use of antifreeze agents in the mortar is not permitted. Of course, there will always be someone who lays bricks in the cold if the client demands it. In such a case, the warranty expires and the experts are happy about even more assignments.

Hello,

even if it bothers you now that construction is not continuing: in the end, it is better this way. If you bring the moisture from plaster and screed into the house in this weather and have 99% humidity at 25 degrees room temperature, then mold is not far away. Not even the vapor barrier with Sd = 100 m helps against that.

You are probably right. Quality before quantity. Thank you for your answers. [emoji1303]

when the concrete slab has been poured, work cannot continue immediately because the concrete logically does not set as quickly at colder temperatures as in summer weather, this should be obvious! When stones are glued, it is not allowed to lay masonry under +5 degrees, with normal masonry mortar you can sometimes lay masonry down to -1-2 degrees.

I was or am also uncertain about this with us... The foundation slab was poured at the beginning of November, when temperatures were still "milder," also at the start of the masonry work. Then, about 10 days just before Christmas, temperatures were between 1-3 degrees plus, yet the shell was still completely built up. Only on two days with around -2 to 0 degrees was work paused... The general contractor, who is a trained mason himself, said: no problem. Poroton bricks were used.

I hope his statement is okay like that?! Now it's anyway too late ;)
