And specifically about whether the general contractor did everything, whether you provided your own work (for that you then pay insurance contributions, but you yourself would have no claims)

You pay insurance contributions for yourself, but in case of an accident you would have no claims? That's almost like with the statutory pension insurance.

Honestly, I know it differently. You don’t have to pay for yourself, but you can voluntarily – but then you would also have claims. In any case, I even declared my own contribution, but the insurance rejected it and I never had to pay anything. The comparison with the pension is wrongly presented. You do accumulate claims. Today you can ask yourself what they will really be worth when you retire. But actually, it should look better for those who retire in 20-30 years (I belong to that group) than for those who are about to retire now, since the demographics will then balance out again – the large cohort of boomers will slowly but surely be moving out of the benefit phase at the other end, unless life expectancy suddenly increases sharply. So basically, the panic-mongering about "uncertain" pensions is about the contributions and those already receiving or about to receive pensions in the next 20-30 years.

The birth rate has been relatively low but stable for many years. How is the ratio of contributors to pensioners supposed to change then?

I did write:

[...]

that means translated: There will then be fewer retirees per working person again.

Hi,

It was different for me back then. The client and spouse were explicitly excluded from any insurance coverage. However, I still had to pay a minimum contribution.

Best regards,

Andreas

When was that?

Quoted from the BG-Bau website:

And that was already the case in 2020, because that’s when I started building.
