Helma and Traumhaus are currently in crisis because of this, too. So it affects both large and small companies.
Yes. Although the whining and gnashing of teeth is a bit annoying, to be honest.
For a decade, business was booming, really exceptionally good, and everyone knew it couldn’t go on like that forever.
It’s not as if other industries haven’t had crises in recent years.
Things are slowly getting better, but we still have delivery times of several months for many of our components, which before Corona used to be delivered overnight or the next day.
In 2022 and much of 2023, I worked off overtime, kept afloat with minor tasks, and was able to take parental leave. Convenient when you’re building a house yourself with a bit of your own work. Other colleagues sat at home on short-time work, fixed-term contracts were not extended, etc.
The construction industry is now entering 1 or 2 years of really rough waters, that’s true. But it has to get through it; the tools are there.
And the craftsmen can now finally chip away at their backlog that they have been pushing forward.
You still wait 2 or 3 weeks for a plumber unless water is literally shooting out of the wall.
And I’ve already been waiting for 3 weeks for an offer from the ground worker for a cistern waterproofing. It can’t be that bad yet if he doesn’t have to bother with small stuff like that.
PS:
It’s simply normal not to run at 110% capacity all year round. Unfortunately, that was forgotten because business was booming for years.
