It drifts into off-topic, but as long as he pays child support, it is no longer a shared custody arrangement, then there would be nothing against the re-registration.

He doesn't pay alimony either, arguing that we will care for the children equally. Incomes are now relatively similar, apart from his housing benefit (paid-off house).

If he doesn't agree, the only way is through the court. Upon application, it could grant me the sole authority (the term is not quite correct, I didn't remember the technical term) to determine the place of residence.

Even if he didn't care for the children at all, I still couldn't change their registration without his consent.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack the thread. But I'm a bit annoyed at how the rules are... someone can apply for Baukindergeld for "other people's" children (and this, even though the parent has no share in the property and only lives there) and I get nothing for my own, because such a formality stands in the way. The children don't spend a minute more or less here or there just because the main residence is registered here or there on paper.

Honestly, I also find it totally unfair!
