Hello everyone,

first of all, thank you very much for your time and your input!

The size of the room is 3m x 4.75m = 14.25m².
We are a household of 5 people. Besides the large bathroom, there is also a guest toilet and a small bathroom.

In the , we were advised to discuss the floor plan here.

We are currently planning the floor plan and need to decide regarding window sizes. A detailed bathroom plan will follow later in the construction project.
At the moment, we are torn about the window in the north. There, we want - if possible - to install a 180cm wide window. If the bathroom cannot be sensibly arranged with it, it will be a 100cm wide window. This is currently the crucial point for us. Can we arrange the bathroom so that a 180cm wide window is possible?

Important for us: Large shower

Here is the view of an empty room. Marked are the 2 waste pipes on the right (black squares), the alignments to windows / front door on the lower floors as well as a 155cm corridor for the door at the bottom left.

We have considered various options.
The tub can be built-in to have some storage space behind it. We, 2 adults, rarely use the bathroom. At the moment, the tub is used exclusively by our 3 children.
The left option was discussed with our architect. Due to the window issue, we are considering other options that also allow a larger window in the north. In the north, we look over other neighbors (due to the hillside location).

Further questions:

[*]Is it okay to walk straight into a shower upon entering the bathroom?
[*]Regarding option 2: The toilet is central. Is that bad?
[*]We want a double washbasin 160cm wide. How much space should be free on the sides? How much space should be left towards the door?
[*]Is a 130cm walkway behind a washbasin enough to get from the door to the rear area of the bathroom?

We look forward to your input and new impulses!

Many thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Alex

I believe the entire floor plan was meant. As I said, without the overall perspective it will be difficult to really guess something meaningful.

Hello,

so I like option 4 best.
- The room feels airy when entering.
- The toilet is hidden.
- However, I might rotate the shower tray 180° and leave the entrance on the side because of the splash guard.
- The window to the north can be made larger.

The question remains where to put the bath towels and where the laundry basket will go.

The bathtub you selected is a freestanding bathtub. However, the bathtub is not freestanding. I would carefully consider whether you want to install the bathtub like that. Dust collects around the tub and you cannot comfortably vacuum around it. If you want to use a vacuum robot, it definitely won’t get through. A change afterwards is difficult because the water connection and drain come from the floor.

I think a freestanding bathtub looks nice if it is really freestanding. However, if you somehow push the bathtub into a corner, I don’t think it achieves the desired effect and maintenance is more complicated.

You have already presented the bathroom before.

In my opinion, the toilet belongs where the wastewater goes down.
