Well, there are also wireless window contacts. They do need batteries but no cables and can be mounted almost invisibly.

Exactly. I just wanted to point out that it doesn't work with the handle alone and that the handle is only useful for comfort and not for any kind of surveillance with a security background.

Have you ever tried to pry open new windows with mushroom cams (almost all of them have these)? That is almost impossible. It makes more sense to break the triple glazing.

Based on the handle position, it can also be determined whether the window is closed against the frame but still actually open (e.g., blown shut by a gust of wind). With only window contacts, you can no longer check this. However, querying the handle position can also be used for "security-oriented" functions: If the sliding door is closed but the handle is still open, then do not automatically lower the blinds (this discussion has already taken place here in the forum).

okay, it depends on whether you install the window contacts matching the window and its locking mechanism or just stick contacts on.
