I would store beer there.

An earth cellar is not only made to store food cool, but also to store food frost-free.
Anyone who grows larger quantities of fruit and vegetables in the garden for the whole year needs some way to store them cool, but frost-free. Refrigerators in garden sheds are not suitable for this. Many refrigerators have an N climate class and are therefore designed for ambient temperatures between 16-32 degrees. Our "garden refrigerator" to my knowledge is approved from 5 degrees.

You could reinforce the chamber temporarily during graveling/vibrating with boards or rods clamped in between (like an internal shuttering). Later, you remove them again.

The idea of propping it up could actually be an option. I need to think about how it can be done best.

And on the topic of storage: So butter etc. naturally goes in the fridge... that goes without saying. And yes, for the summer, there might even be a fridge in the house. But precisely because it's currently convenient, it would be an option to create a small storage space here where you really store fruits and vegetables in appropriate quantities... and beer fits in there wonderfully too ;)

Hello

I have done something like this. A bit bigger.
The thing was named "climate cellar" for the building permit. At first, there was surprise at the building authority, then joyful excitement.
The climate cellar is 450 x 400 cm. 360 cm below ground level.
Dug a big hole, poured concrete floor, concrete formwork blocks: 50 x 30 x 25 cm. (Basically 30 cm underground!) stacked, before that 16 mm rebar into the ground so the formwork blocks sit firmly. Ceiling on top and done. I do this myself. If you have it done, it’s unaffordable. I coated the formwork blocks from outside with thick-layer bitumen, put 5 cm Styrofoam on that and on top a dimpled membrane. Then filled up with concrete gravel.
Cool in summer, never too cold in winter.

How did you secure the deep hole during excavation/concreting? What kind of "ceiling on top"? Can we see pictures?
