Basement: Laundry room / Shaft still up to date?

We are currently working on the detailed planning in the basement. Based on experience and habit from our parents' houses, we assumed that in the basement room where the dryer, washing machine, etc. are located, a shaft in the floor is generally installed. We have now learned from our builder that this is not standard and is generally no longer common or desired. What is standard or normal nowadays? We have planned a room in the basement as a technical room, where both the heating (district heating), water storage tank (solar thermal system), and generally all connections are installed. Question: In times of, for example, Aquastop on washing machines, is it still necessary to plan a shaft? Additionally, the inspection shaft and the wastewater shaft are probably located under the main street at a higher level. Keyword: additional costs due to a lifting station?

Hello,

whether this makes sense or is up-to-date for you is ultimately something you have to decide yourselves.

It can't be that "unmodern," because the benefit is immense in case of emergency. In our house construction, the supplier (district heating) even required that a floor drain be present in the room where the transfer station is installed.

If I were you, I would install the drain as well - except if that would only require a lifting station because of it.

As it looks, the sewer provided by the city is at a higher level than the basement. Isn't that generally a mistake on the part of the city? Normally, this sewer should always be lower than the inspection chamber. What costs should one expect for such a lifting station, assuming it has to discharge "only" greywater, that is, no sewage? What costs should I expect for the installation of a shaft in the technical room/laundry room? That is "only" a hole and a pipe, it shouldn't cost a fortune, or am I mistaken?

As far as I know, a small lifting station is enough for greywater. 200€ plus labor and small materials

Hello! We have also decided on a floor drain (shaft) in the basement in the utility/laundry room. In our opinion, it is always good to have a floor drain at the lowest point in the house.

After consulting with our general contractor, the problem is that the shaft would run below the drainage level and therefore an electric backwater protection system costing around €4000 (including the shaft) would have to be installed. But that seems really too expensive to me. What should be considered/recommended to properly and safely protect against water backflow in a basement below the sewer during flooding/heavy rain? Mechanical check valve?
