Hello dear forum,

we are currently in the middle of the construction phase and need to decide on the position of our ceiling spots at short notice.

Our favorite is the following:

However, we wonder whether the spots above the washbasin and toilet should be placed further into the room, since a fairly wide mirror with probably integrated upper LED lighting will be installed above the washbasin, and the distance to the other spots above the bathtub/shower is quite large.

Another idea would be the following, so that the distance between the spots above the toilet/washbasin and bathtub/shower becomes smaller. But is the spot in the shower enough, or will it be too dark there?

A final idea is to pull the spots above the washbasin/toilet further into the room:

In the last version, 2 additional spots are drawn above the bathtub. We thought that 5 spots, as in the other drawings, would be sufficient!?

What do the experts say? Which arrangement is the most sensible (and why) and aren't 5 spots enough for us if the mirror is slightly illuminated?

Best regards, Monsteraner

That depends on the spots. If an area is to be illuminated (and an outlet like a normal ceiling outlet is not enough), then take four or six centered as in the last picture. You need main light at the tub and shower, not at the mirror. I would have the ceiling and mirror lights controlled separately. Where should the toilet go?

Many thanks ypg!

That's right, the toilet isn’t even drawn in. It will be placed next to the sink, so in the bottom left of the drawing.

Do I understand correctly that you would arrange the spots over the shower/bathtub like in the 1st or 3rd picture, since direct light is needed there, and you would place the lights over the washbasin/toilet more towards the room, like in the last picture?

Do you think 5 spots (1 over the bathtub) are enough, or do we need 6 (2 over the bathtub)? Which spots will be used has not been decided yet.

6 would suit the aesthetics better, to do justice to the rectangle of the room. To be honest, we almost only have the lights at the washbasin on, switchable separately. Above the tub and in the shower, you only need direct light if you are shaving or something like that. For the toilet use, floodlight can also be disturbing, especially at night.

From the side where the floor-to-ceiling window is, no one can watch you either? It’s annoying if you’re lying in the tub and someone is staring in through the window. And lowering the blinds every time you want to bathe isn’t exactly the solution either.
