Hello everyone, Basically, I will forego home automation for cost reasons. The only thing I would like are smart shutters, to be able to quickly darken everything, for example in summer when it is hot. I would like to avoid Shellys or similar if possible, it should not be a makeshift solution and still be as inexpensive as possible. Does anyone have a tip on what would make sense?

Or rather, has anyone of you ever implemented a "custom automation," e.g. with a Siemens controller? Basically, it would also be conceivable for me to install a PLC in the [UV]. I could take care of the programming myself.

Have you already dealt with the topic? I consider a solution with Shellys far from being called a "makeshift solution". It really works very well, reliably, is not visible, can be operated by everyone, and is inexpensive.

Actually not in detail, I am just a silent reader in another forum. I also do not want to rule it out for renovation etc. But for a new building, where I still have full control of the wiring, in my opinion it is not the number one solution, or do you have a different opinion?

No, I agree with that opinion. In new buildings, it is not the top solution. If there is enough time, money, and good planners available, I would prefer other solutions, but of course also to do more than just [Rollläden] right away.

However, if an extensive [Smart Home] is not desired at first, but only the [Rollläden] are to be controlled initially, then I would at least consider it as an option in new buildings. The cables can still be run to the distribution panel.

However, I do not know the other systems well enough to make a direct comparison here.

Somehow your statements contradict each other. No money for "more" features, but usual Shelly applications are too cheap/simple for you?

Either spend money or work with common wireless options (whether Shelly or other expensive systems).
