Attach trellis to the house without damaging the plaster.

Got a simple question: I want to attach a wooden trellis to the garage wall. Now I'm wondering how to fix it. Can I just screw it into the masonry? Or will that cause unsightly marks when water runs down it? Should I rather use spacers or place the wood directly on the plaster, although here too I’m worried about discoloration. Once something starts growing (which isn’t so certain with the drought here), I won’t care as much. But it should look as neat and tidy as possible while still "bare".

Hole, dowels, stainless steel screws. I consider spacers to be exaggerated. But if you have such plastic nubs, you can use them.

Yes!!!! I’m outing us: on 12/30/18 we finally glued down our carpet on the gallery and installed the baseboards there. On New Year’s we installed the sliding door to the dressing room ... after 4 years and 11 months :D
