A roughly 5 meter wide awning is being replaced for me. I want one that lasts a long time. The current one – after presumably 25 or more years – still works mechanically and is technically okay, ... only most of the seams have come apart. Does anyone know a company that is known for its quality? (like Mercedes or Rolls Royce)

These things can be expensive, true. And: no, I don’t want to spend a lot of money intentionally, but I want to be as sure as possible that I get “something good.”

And while we’re on the subject: I can’t decide whether to get something motorized or mechanical. Every technical refinement can break, so I often decide on: “less,” but we will probably get a second one under the roof (which is currently being raised), and on the south side it is often really important to use it because otherwise it gets too warm ... And the cranking can also be annoying. I’m 70 years old today and of course fully fit , but I’m not getting any younger ... How mature is the technology? ... or how difficult will it be to get something repaired?

Weinor, for example, has a good reputation. As far as I know, awning motors do not tend to fail quickly. I still have one here from 1993 that is working perfectly and operates a 4x7m awning. I would also choose electric operation for remote controllability even in my absence.

Markilux and Varisol also come to mind. But with awnings, you can simply replace the fabric. :)

We have had one from Leiner for over 10 years, also electric. It is still in great condition, and there has never been anything wrong with it.

What exactly do you want to replace? The fabric or the entire awning? If only the seams are damaged, just replace the fabric. If the awning itself then gives up, you can still replace it and continue to use the awning fabric.

That's how we did it in the spring.
