so I have no experience with loans there. I only have a regular checking account with them and it works great. Never had a problem. If I ever wanted something, I quickly called them and the problem was quickly resolved

The problem is that such online banks are not willing to negotiate when you fall behind on your installments. If you finance, for example, through a Sparkasse, you have an advisor, and if you get behind on payments, you can talk to them. Such direct banks are very impersonal, the advice suffers as a result, and if you fall behind on payments, you might encounter not so sympathetic ears there.

Online banks are cheap - no question. But personal contact with my financial advisor has always been important to me. Unfortunately, you have to do without that in dealings with online banks.... I use the cheap offers from online banks for overnight money... Their deposits are insured and I don't need any great advice for that.

However, when it comes to a mortgage loan, advice is of great importance!

Online banking is generally very secure. I use it occasionally, but very cautiously. The danger does not come from the bank or its servers, but rather from the user themselves. If Trojans and viruses are on the computer, they can spy on and forward the login details:cool:. Therefore, one should pay attention to a good firewall and virus protection.
