Wow, that is quite a statement, which certainly no one here expected. The "letting go" will be painful in the short term, but in the long and medium term will surely hold really beautiful moments for both "parties," including the enjoyment of exclusive visiting times :) And the house will also benefit greatly from it! Then I’m looking forward to the next draft :D

No! The mood was already weird anyway, and in the end we would have had to insist that a completely different fee be charged for this new situation. In addition, (for a pure renovation) it is more efficient for us to plan/draw it ourselves and then have an architect take care of the finer details and submit all the necessary stuff. A friend is now doing that for a manageable fee.

We are working hard on it :) The carpenter was already here yesterday, now the energy consultant needs to come through and then hopefully we can submit a building application and start the (interior) demolition work. The rush is also great right now because we are treating ourselves to two weeks in Aruba at the end of the month. After the painfully long Corona winter, this simply had to happen.

Renovations are underestimated. I share the view here, just as with new builds, that the planning was mainly done for bureaucracy. My mentor was mainly hired at the time for renovations.

Phew, that sounds like a complete turnaround. The youngest sent out the door, the extension completely canceled. You’re practically starting again from scratch on a smaller scale. Was there a reason for completely giving up the extension now? It doesn’t have to be a monstrous extension like the one the architect planned.

If I see that correctly, you would then have living space over three floors. One is really very curious to see what the new plans will look like.

By the way, now that the youngest is being released into the wild. Have you already checked the ladder for defects and explained to your husband how to use it properly and checked out the new neighbors because of your concern about living alone by the forest? :D

But by then it's too late for a floor plan discussion
