Hello dear forum,
We are a family of five and have purchased a plot of land in the Neustadt an der Weinstrasse area. Now we are planning to build our dream house there and want to build a modern house in the old Palatinate style. What does that mean? We don’t know exactly ourselves yet, but probably a combination of sandstone, plaster, shutters, and large windows as a KFW house. (gehobener Standard mit ein paar Spielereien).
In addition, we currently do not live on-site and can only be there partially during the construction period. So we need a reliable partner with whom we can plan our house individually and who at the same time guarantees a smooth process.
Now our questions:
1. Would you plan and build rather with an architect or a general contractor or both?
2. Do you have any ideas/recommendations for an architect/general contractor in the Neustadt Weinstrasse area based on this description?
Many thanks for your help.

2. at least not from memory at the moment.
1. I would leave it up to the architect to also include general contractors in the tender; and I would always entrust the architect with the detailed planning and construction management.

Hello Pfalzpaulianer, great to hear that you are also building in NW! We have just purchased a plot of land in Lambrecht (right next to NW) and are now in the planning phase. We are currently interested in Bio Solar Haus, but are also still looking for general contractors in the region. I think the idea of sandstone is great; many houses in the center of Lambrecht are very beautiful old sandstone houses. However, I have no idea if anyone still builds like that nowadays. I would appreciate your experiences and a little exchange! Best regards Olli
