Hello everyone,

maybe some topics related to house construction are not that complex, or I am just making it harder than it is.

We have submitted our building application (in Berlin, prime plot) and now I want to apply for all utilities. Some questions have come up (probably typical beginner questions):

At the front of the street, electricity and water are available. I want to have the lines to the back where the house will be built installed only after the shell of the house is standing. Will construction electricity and construction water therefore be routed above ground from the street to the back?

Do cable TV and telephone connections have to be applied for early or is it sufficient to do this only after the house is completed?

My goal is to have to dig the path to the house at the back only once and then lay water, sewage, electricity, cable, and telephone all at once.

Is it correct that one pays the connection fee once (e.g., to the local network operator) and then again for the actual installation to the house or the connection to the house?

Sorry for these beginner questions :-)

Regards

Telekom early, they have long lead times.

Connections to the house were all done for us by a company that works for all providers in the region. Find out who that is in your area and talk to them.

Telekom. About 9 months lead time here. Gas water 6 months here. Electricity similar. The way. Electricity at the network operator via electrician. Gas water sewage, the plumber helps there. Telekom, prepare a conduit with the civil engineer when pouring the foundation. One trench for all? You dream the dream of the righteous, but they are not like that, everyone sends their own mini excavator crew and you can consider yourself lucky if one leaves the other's work intact. It would definitely be cheaper if gas water sh... before electricity and telephone, as they lie higher, not so deep in the ground.

I would apply for everything immediately! When you have the work done doesn't really matter at first, the main thing is that you "get in line"! (Unless you want to live without house connections for 6 months)

For my supplies, you can do the earthworks yourself, meaning you only have a trench dug.

They get construction electricity and construction water from where it is located on your property, once the property has been developed.

Thank you for your feedback.

We have an amazing plot. Is a separate sewage connection better than a shared sewage connection with the front property (I would still have to ask the front owner if he would agree to that, as he is already connected to the sewage)? Is a shared connection cheaper in terms of connection costs?

Of course, it’s cheaper together. But I’ll give you an example. We used to have a semi-detached house, four units, one line, a shared sewage pipe. It was the second day of Christmas. Everything was blocked at our place. Clogged. I called the plumber. He came. Couldn’t do anything, there was no problem in our short feed to the main line, which was apparently blocked. A drain cleaning service was needed. Cleaning truck, second day of Christmas. He was still fair at 600. He cleared the main pipe. But now the problem. I paid. The neighbor gave me 150. The next and the one after refused, they said they had nothing to do with it. Only a court dunning process with all the trimmings got the two to pay 300. The relationship was permanently damaged. That’s how it can go with gemeinsam.K.
