Alternative to tile carpet in the kitchen?

Hello everyone!

I have the following problem: I don't want to glue a tile carpet to the wall in my new kitchen. There are various reasons for this, including the fact that I sometimes want to rearrange my kitchen without being tied to a specific pattern!

What alternative options are there? Cooking is not an issue, since I have a cooking island (hihi!), and the sink is in front of the window. Only the countertop remains. But it can splash there sometimes!

Does anyone have an idea how I could protect my walls from dirt relatively cheaply?

How about silicone or latex paint? Ask at the [baumarkt] because as far as I know, they can be washed off. But it's really better to ask at a [baumarkt].
