Air-water heat pump with its own meter?

Hello,

our electrician unsettled me a bit when he spoke about the heat pump getting its own meter so that the supplier can provide it with electricity when they have 'extra' available. This may be reasonable, the kWh here will certainly be cheaper than the kWh the washing machine consumes via household electricity. What is not nice: where is the photovoltaic supposed to feed its electricity? You cannot operate the heat pump and the washing machine with your own electricity in this way (as long as the sun provides it).

As far as I have read now, you can run the heat pump via household electricity (as long as the supplier has no objection?).

This would be my preferred solution. What do you think about it?

Energy Saving Ordinance lock is what it's called.

We have it in the morning at 9:00 for 30 minutes and in the evening at 18:30 for 30 minutes.
Currently still with EnBW as provider but will definitely switch again.

How it works with photovoltaics I cannot answer you directly.

Presumably, you do not intend to use an exorbitant amount of electricity with the heat pump. But without numbers on consumption and electricity costs, no one will be able to tell you whether it is worth it.

If the second meter costs 120 euros a year in basic fees and you get the heat pump electricity 3 cents cheaper, you already need 4,000 kWh just to even benefit from savings.

If you also have photovoltaic panels, the second meter becomes even less economical.

But consider, the heat pump always needs electricity when the sun is not providing very well. And the heat pump always requires a high amount of electricity for a short period.

Here is a classic heat pump consumption picture. The photovoltaic system does not help you at all with the gray peaks.

How long does your photovoltaic system have to run until the purchase costs are covered by the profit from the photovoltaic system?

Without making any assumptions, there is no answer to that. Ceteris paribus, about 10-11 years. On balance, however, I expect it to be significantly earlier. For the moment, the only important thing is that currently, on balance, it costs the same.
