Unfortunately, it is not that simple. In the event of an insurance claim, the "state of the art" is also taken into account. And there is the standard that provides for fire protection switches. At least there are currently discussions about whether buildings with fire protection switches should receive lower insurance premiums. Then the installation could even pay off over several years. No one can force you to install fire protection switches as there is currently no legal requirement.

End of 2017 after 18.12 Beginning of 2018, when we built, the standard was not among the introduced Technical Building Regulations and was not a recognized rule of technology within the meaning of case law.

An objection was also filed.

I do not know if anything has changed and what the current status is.

Last year, however, the standard was not a recognized rule of technology.

It works the same way for me: I have to have it signed by the electrician. At the same time, I inquired with my insurance company, which of course had never heard of it before, but they informed me in writing that I am obliged "to reduce the risk of the occurrence of an insured event or to prevent an increase in risk. In case of violation of this obligation, the insurer is released from the obligation."

In German: Don't mention the numbers for now. Currently inquiries are being made at other insurance companies.

Maybe interesting for some: Houses with arc fault protection devices are statistically struck by lightning more often. I don’t remember from which study (a building biologist explained it to us), but it shouldn’t be hard to find.
