Are these things currently mandatory when electrical professionals are present? I mainly hear about problems and unnecessary costs from these things. Do I have a way to avoid them and the costs? I am building a wooden house with Fermacell-clad walls and wonder if I need these things? I don't think my insurance coverage would expire in the event of a fire, right?

To be installed according to the standard. But not legally required. However, presumably no electrician will approve it for you without the fire protection switches (arc fault detection devices). Therefore, install in wooden houses and timber frame structures. And even if an electrician were to approve it, the insurance company will find a way to deny you coverage in case of fire. The protective devices start at €100. I wouldn't do without them...

Okay thanks for the info. I have only ever read that additional costs of one to two thousand euros are often charged by prefab house companies due to the [AFFD] fuses.

Yes, you need several. Therefore, the costs quickly reach 1-2k. But one should be aware of this when choosing [Holzständerbauweise].

Sorry, but the insurance thing is simply nonsense. If a damage case occurs, the insurance follows the Landesbauverordnung, only that counts, and in the Landesbauverordnung these protective switches are not mandatory. We just signed a paper with our electrician stating that we waive them, and that's it.
