Hello everyone,

despite a lengthy search, I have not been able to clarify the question regarding the insulation of our basement. Maybe you can help me?

We are building a single-family house with a basement made of 36cm Ytong. There is a granny flat and an office in the basement. The base slab has already been insulated with 10cm perimeter insulation. Both the energy consultant and the architect said that the basement does not need to be additionally insulated, as the Ytong also suffices as insulation here. The construction of the house is overall single-layer, so without insulation.

Does it make sense to have exterior insulation only for the basement, or can I save the money?

Best regards!

The house is on a hillside, so the front is partly no longer underground. However, over 70% is still in the ground...

Hi,

whether it's sufficient or not must have been calculated somewhere.......

Hello,

yes, according to the calculation it is enough. It’s just a thought whether it wouldn’t be better.

current setup would be:
Cold adhesive sheet system "Bituthene"
Sulfiton DS system protection drain and backfill protection sheet with additional sliding foil and filter fleece

optional setup would be (for an extra charge)
Cold adhesive sheet system "Bituthene"
Jackodrain (XPS boards with studded sheet and filter fleece) thickness 60mm

I would be interested in what you think about it...

... are you asking about the foundation slab? ... or is your question specifically about the exterior walls surrounded by soil, and then it plays a crucial role which heated rooms in the basement directly adjoin exterior walls that are backfilled with soil ...
