My wife will kill me if I install any more "Smarthome nonsense".

I can understand that, I also know more people who say they would never put something like that on their front door, and online you can find more opinions that are against it. But that's okay, everyone can and should decide for themselves what they like and what they don't.

My better half was also very skeptical at first and always took the key with her just to be safe. Over time, however, she built up more and more trust herself because it worked so well. She also realized that if it doesn't unlock automatically sometimes, she can still do it with her phone (which has never failed) or unlock it with the key after all. By now, she is so confident that she no longer worries if the key is forgotten at home (probably only because subconsciously she has our hidden spare key in mind :D...).
I believe the spare key also unconsciously helps me maintain trust, after all, nothing works perfectly forever (not even the aging brain against a key forgotten at home, even if you don't like Nuki :)).

You have to make a deal! For every sofa cushion or vase and decorative knickknack, you’re allowed to buy/install one electronic gadget :D

Either you’ll soon be able to integrate the toilet seat into the smart home or the expenses for decoration stuff will drop rapidly :p

But I look old then. That’s not how it is. The deal would probably work better with animals. I can already see myself building the chicken coop.

Hello Nixwill2, ... yes, I know the setting for the removal of the "Geofence" and have it set to 100 meters, but the function only works for me (us) at a significantly greater distance. Meanwhile, I have gotten used to it and no longer think about it, but "shorter would be nicer." The - quite old and not differently adjustable - front door always opens for us when the latch is unlocked - so it is then fully open. Modifying the door so that it does not open despite the latch being open is too much effort for me (if that would even be possible). Fortunately, the street is relatively far from the door, so it normally does not open just by walking past (although that has happened before). Conclusion for me: The Nuki is well built, programmed, and easy to use. Not a "necessary" installation in the house, but a pleasure for me.

For short trips outside, I still always have to find the small lever in the lock, move it 2 millimeters, and then put it back afterward so that I don't need a key. The opening function works at about 5 meters of approach. However, that seems by far not sufficient for recognizing: "now the door user has left." Bluetooth probably can't do that, otherwise the Nuki programmers would probably have made it more finely adjustable.
