Hello,

my husband (33) and I (24) have, like many others, the dream of owning our own house. Actually, we wanted to wait until I finish my studies, but for some reasons we would now like to realize our dream already. As mentioned, I do not earn any money yet (I expect to start earning about the end of 2010), my husband is a teacher (civil servant), and we have a son. Monthly, we have roughly 3500 euros available in total. After all deductions (including two building savings contracts), we would have about 1600 euros per month left. Our dream house would cost 188,500 euros, but the land would be an additional cost. Perhaps some can say from experience whether our plan would already be feasible with a secure income now.

Best regards, kamax

Hi,

with the salary that should be doable, how does it look with equity? Because you should have at least 20% of that, the more the better.

Hi,

if you negotiate with the bank, don’t forget to count the [Bausparer] as part of the equity, it would also be good if you can do some things yourselves.

one shouldn't overestimate doing things yourself because usually you can only work at the construction site on weekends..

The biggest danger in these times is losing your job and not being able to pay your installments. But if your husband is a civil servant, then that danger does not exist and you can calmly look to the future. All the best from Anorak

Hello,

you have to make sure that you can still save on the side, because things do break sometimes and you should always have the money set aside.

that’s what Lucky tells you
