Yes and no, the - by the way not 15 mm, but - one and a half centimeters per edge are the installation gap; masonry tolerances of approximately the same magnitude (and also in angle and flatness) come on top of that.

We are talking about timber frame construction here, and in times of CAD and CNC, I would hope that the timber frame construction indeed honors the power of the millimeter. They will manage to build walls and install windows precisely - and if they are then in the wrong place, it’s already too late. There remains the floor slab - all three dimensions :cool:

Also in solid wood / frame construction, the chainsaw is occasionally used on site. Wood is a natural material and should not be considered like steel in mechanical engineering. Even there, trades with cm tolerances are not uncommon (Vlemmix sometimes 7cm on 8.5m). Permissible tolerances depending on the material and trade used can be found in the corresponding technical literature.

With the bricklayer, however, one is happy as long as he stays on the (right) property - ?

I would be interested in the comment made about it. Was it "dat hamm wa schon imma so gemacht" or "dat hält schon so"?
