Window with 5- or 6-chamber system profile?

we just received the offer from our developer... In it, he recommends equipping the windows with a 6-chamber system profile instead of the 5-chamber system profile. This additional effort costs around €2500!

What do you think? For your information: We are not building a Kfw house...

The energy savings are marginal... if only the frame really changes - without really knowing, I also find the additional cost more due to the extra "good feeling" than actually the additional material costs for the other type of window. Perhaps a construction expert can say something about this.

With us, the surcharges for thicker frames were lower, but it depends on details like window size, color, quantity, and so on. However, with us, the Uw value significantly decreased with better frames, since the thinner frames had a value around 1.2, the thicker ones below 1.0 (and thus significantly worse than the glass with 0.6).

For how many windows and with what specifications?

The surcharge is, at first glance, of course hefty; but selling 5-chamber profiles as standard isn’t really great either. For comparison, we have 7-chamber profiles as standard, 82 mm construction depth, Uw value below 1.0.

I also have to say we upgraded from 6 to 7 chambers, but it is also one more chamber.
