The best thing would probably be to briefly address this unpleasant issue with the site manager during the inspection (if it is indeed very soon) and ask for a simple goodwill solution. The paint should still be available (even if you hire a painter, they usually leave the leftovers on site), just buy a brush and paint over it. And the construction company can offer something small that you would like to have. For example, if the company always works with a window installer, you might get pleated blinds for free or something similar. Or if it’s the company’s 7.5-ton truck for the move. Something to make you happy again without the costs becoming completely disproportionate. And do it in a friendly tone, since the problem is actually on your side. The site manager messed up with his statement, so let him somehow fix the issue cheaply. Otherwise, he won’t remember anything and you will be out of luck.
In our case, the sales representative of the construction company stumbled over the tile pile during the viewing appointment of our self-installed floor coverings on the upper floor. The tiles slipped and hit the laminate with the edge, causing a few surface scratches. Contractually it was our bad luck since we were not really allowed to do anything ourselves before handover. But the site manager was embarrassed about it, and pleated blinds worth 500€ were given as a gift. We didn’t replace the laminate piece; after wiping it once with a damp cloth, you can no longer see anything :)
