higher quality: so the more expensive offer is from a "brand" manufacturer. The technology also makes a very solid impression on us. That's why we have a better gut feeling here. The cheaper offer is only from an installation company that buys the windows. The subcontractor buys profiles and glass and assembles them.

For your information: we install electric shutters everywhere.

Question about installation: can someone explain to me in simple terms what the difference is between installation according to DIN and according to RAL.

Best regards xdiver

Good evening,

We also commissioned that in our younger years ... only looked at the price in the bottom right. Expensive - afterwards we had to hire bricklayers and plasterers.

Nope - that would fill pages

Simply put, installation according to DIN means that the technical standards are followed – with installation according to RAL the window installer can present a quality seal, as they voluntarily submit themselves to recurring inspections of their performance. The RAL-certified company also complies with the DIN.

Rhenish regards

Hi Bauexperte, I don't quite understand your post. At the risk of everyone laughing at me now, but masons come before window construction... Did you rather have the problem that sloppy work was done?

I didn't mean to say that the assembly company is bad. It was simply meant as information.

Another question, do you actually need external sills on basement windows? Our little house has a drain at the basement window and is then filled with gravel.

Best regards xdiver

Hello,

In our case, in ’87 the bricklayers and plasterers also came after the window replacement.

Young, inexperienced, and only looking at the price, we hadn’t considered that cheap prices must be justified "somewhere." Usually, when replacing windows, work is started on the right and left sides of the frame, pulled toward the center, and outside the frame... without major damage to the masonry. Well, with us, after installing the new windows, huge holes appeared in the outer wall; it almost looked like a comic... interrupted only by the bolts for fastening and such pretty yellow blobs. It took me months even to remove the remains of the foam filler.

Crews work by the clock, not by care. The window elements themselves were/are good; it was just the installation that was lacking.

Rhenish greetings

so it means letting ants work... they don’t have a clock, are industrious, and get the windows lifted Thanks!
