Hello,
I am currently in contact with our roofer.
He says that no window is necessary in an insulated but uninhabited attic.
We have no windows in the side gables and with the roofer’s solution, no window in the roof either.
We have no chimney that might require an emergency exit window.
The roof is insulated with 80mm wooden panels and on the inside with wool and foil.
A photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof.
The rest of the insulation in the house is to Kfw 40 standard. The living areas will be ventilated with a central ventilation system.
I am a little concerned that with this setup the attic might be a bit too airtight and that mold or other problems could occur?
I understand that I will not use the roof window for daily ventilation, since I would have to fold down the stairs to the attic each time and also remember the window. Nevertheless, I do not feel comfortable not having a window in the attic.
What do you think?
