Hello,
I have the following problem. My husband and I are currently in the process of buying a plot of land to build a home on it. Now the following issue. The plot is located in the 2nd row. So there is an access road to our plot that passes by the house in the 1st row. The access road is not very wide (3m). This access road will then be used as a construction road. Now a colleague of mine said that we have to be careful because if the trucks cause damage to the front house, we as the builders would be liable and not the construction company. He said that the high pressure from the construction road (due to the heavy trucks) could cause damage to the basement walls (facade), for which we would probably have to pay!!
Is that correct? Shouldn't the construction company have a structural engineer check beforehand whether a building can withstand this load. I am now completely uncertain and hope that someone can help me here.
Best regards
