Wouldn't do it again?

You always read about the pros and cons of a gallery.

I am considering building a gallery above the dining and/or living area (e.g. dining bay).

Who has experience? Who would build like this again?

We have a gallery, my parents have a gallery (that’s how I grew up), and I would build again with a gallery and open living area upstairs.

But I have to say that we don’t have children. If one of us is still watching TV downstairs, the other in the sleeping area hears the TV sound from downstairs in the gallery!

We have a gallery between the living and dining areas, but we do not yet live in the house. I also thought about airborne sound, but in the end the aesthetics were more important to us than the quiet. Let's see how I feel about it when a teenager lives in the house.

But 4 hours is not correct.

It is, of course, extreme if you can still hear the TV upstairs in the bedroom at normal volume.

But then you also have the gallery above the TV/living area if I understood that correctly?!

It should be better for soundproofing if you only have a gallery above the dining area.

Why no bay window?
