Hello dear forum,

we have light/white spots on our anthracite-colored plastic windows that, in my opinion, come from the plastering. Although everything was taped and covered very thoroughly, the spots are on almost every window frame. We have tried everything from water to all-purpose cleaner. The spots keep coming back after they dry. As mentioned, we are not sure if they actually come from the plaster, since some are in places that were 100% taped off. Do you have any guesses or tips on how I can tackle this?

So they seem to be gone when damp?

Maybe residue from the glue, that is, the adhesive tape.

This applies not only to things like that but generally, there are two main types of adhesives.

- Some are alcohol-soluble; you can usually remove them with the cleaning agents you normally use. Glass cleaner or something similar.

- The others are fat-soluble. So just put a little butter on your finger, rub it in, wait a bit, and wipe it off with warm water or a damp cloth.

Maybe it helps others too; I wasn’t aware of the fat-soluble kind, and it has already helped me many times with glue residue on glasses, etc.

We had exactly the same issue, even worse on one window, it was caused by the plastering. Although it was taped off, somehow some got on the frame anyway. After cleaning, everything was gone when wet, and once it was completely dry, it looked like before. We informed the window installer and he told us that he has a special product from the manufacturer for that and would come to us with it. He then cleaned the window frames with this product and it worked great, the frames looked like new afterwards and even now, after more than 2 years, there is no discoloration. We were already afraid that the window film had been damaged and faded, but it all came off.

Best regards
Sabine

Thank you for your answers
I just don’t understand why the stains don’t appear where we wiped away the obvious plaster.
The stains are only where the plasterers cleaned...

Thanks for the tip! We have already been in contact with the window fitter. He gave us cleaning agents, but they didn’t help. I will tell him to speak directly with GAYKO.
