Hello

yes, the structure is the important thing. With a suspended ceiling you have plenty of space. Concrete ceiling with boxes of course doesn’t work with G10.

We have mounting frames from Sebson and spotlights from Ledon. The frames cost 5.99EUR each and suit our taste perfectly. The quality is okay, so there was no reason to spend more. For the spotlights, I installed 4W, 6W, and 8W. I would generally only buy RA90 now, as they hardly cost more and the light is more pleasant. My tip: buy a few spotlights and an inexpensive clamp lamp for GU10 bulbs and try them out. After that, you'll know which light color you like and roughly how much power you need. Even for the house, I wouldn't buy all the spotlights at once but rather gradually and experiment a bit.

Thank you for the detailed information. I also like the frames. The dimmable GU10 lamp with 6W does not cost much either, 13 euros. I would then additionally have to install a GU10 socket in each box, i.e. wire it, is that correct? The plug base is not included with the mounting frames, right? Lamps with an installation height of 110 mm fit into the installation housings of concrete ceilings, that should not be a problem.

Hello firecracker

13 euros is a bit much. Take a look at the LED lamps from Osram or Philips. They are sometimes on sale.
And I bought GU10 sockets on Ebay for little money (I think it was 29 euros for 100 pieces).
And with the money saved, your wife can get a beautiful diamond.

It seems that it is after all. I (an electrical engineer by training but not a lighting specialist) don’t understand why you want to use a larger cable cross-section with high voltage. At higher voltage, you need less current to achieve the same power and thus (depending on the light source) the same amount of light. So a smaller cable cross-section is sufficient.

Evening!

The Sebson mounting frames come with GU10 sockets.

Philips and Osram with CRI90 aren’t much cheaper either, right? I’m not so up to date since I’m already supplied But here’s the tip again: Try it out! There are, for example, LEDs that flicker at relatively high frequencies, which bothers some people.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of the finished state, but this is what it looked like once:

One spot (6W, 35°) already produces a lot of light; several illuminate the entire hallway well.

Best regards
Rob
