Hello, I have been trying for months to find out if there is still an alternative to gypsum plaster in living spaces.

We currently live in a new building (Gipsputz) and it is always very, very dry.
But I am also a person who is open to this and can sense such things.

Now I wanted to use lime cement plaster (a bit finer) or lime plaster and am actually looking for builders who have also had damage with it.

I hope for information here from people who do not have gypsum plaster in the living area.

P.s. I was just in a newly plastered house (cold cement) and I could really breathe freely.
But I don't dare to give my plasterer the "go" yet.

We used lime plaster throughout the whole house and are very glad that we did it that way. The air quality in the house is really good and not like in the previous apartment, where gypsum plaster was used. Our plasterer also said right away: if it’s gypsum plaster, you need to find someone else, I’m not doing that crap. Our architect always builds very ecologically and pays attention to building materials, and he would have had problems with gypsum as well. Of course, it’s also a matter of price. By the way, we didn’t paint the walls after applying the plaster. The plaster then dries in a very pleasant white shade. The surface sands a bit, but we wanted to keep the beautiful texture. We’ll see how long we are happy with it, but so far we haven’t regretted it!

O.k I have 600 m2 of surface that wants to be plastered.

These are my net prices

9 Euro gypsum
13 Euro lime cement
About 30 Euro lime

That is of course a difference.

Anyone here who has lime cement?

I have asthma and have always done well with gypsum plaster. More important for breathing was: No more carpets. Or only small runners. I also do not find our house dry. Could that be due to the [Regel Air window rebate ventilators]? Carsten

We have just recently received lime-cement plaster - throughout the whole house.

I am surprised how different the general statements about interior plaster are. During the offer phase, we were regularly quoted an additional cost for gypsum plaster. We consciously chose lime-cement and against gypsum and thus accept the advantages and disadvantages.

Friday it was already dark, yesterday I didn’t manage at all but later I will take a calm walk through in daylight and see how the final result turned out.

In the bathrooms, we used lime-cement as the base plaster... In the rest of the house, lime plaster was used everywhere as the base plaster... For the finishing coat/top plaster, we used 1mm varioStar...
