OD? Why isn't Poroton used in construction where you are? Here in northern Lower Saxony, a lot is built with Poroton. Many companies near Hannover build with Wieneberger.
Seems like there's something like a porous concrete equator. There are a few (very) few who do it on request (!!), but the standard is porous concrete. I would also like to know why that is.
Building materials are strongly regionally bound due to their mass. Since Poroton needs classic red clay, it is traditionally produced exactly where this is available. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

Someone explained it to us that way too. However, the question then arises why clinker bricks are so popular here?! Or aren't they made of clay?
That is true, but tone is not just tone. Apart from that, there must also be production facilities for it, which in turn only pay off if the demand is appropriate. A vicious circle ... ;)
