When did you install the front door?

With us, the door was installed after the screed; before that, there was a construction door. The screed layer applied insulation up to just before the door and then used a plastic profile to prevent the screed from running up to the door. It is currently protected with cardboard and foam.

Not with us, we get a simple construction door at the beginning, and the final doors only after the screed/plaster.

A construction door is actually out of the question for us, because we would first have to obtain and install it ourselves. Of course, we could leave the old one in place. But then plastering around the door will probably be difficult, and if I hire professionals once (otherwise we always plastered ourselves), they should preferably also plaster around the door.

We are doing a renovation, not a new build. And we are installing the door ourselves.

Certainly, the door can also be installed after the screed. However, the risk that something won't fit then should not be underestimated. There must be an edge insulation strip or a joint between the door and the screed. If the screed installers work a few millimeters too far, the door will no longer fit.

It doesn't have to happen, but if it does, it's extremely annoying.

Yes, that is what the screed layer also told me. We will order the door soon and then install it before the start of the construction work, and then protect it well with foils, cardboard, etc.

There is also the possibility to leave a hand-width gap between the door and the heated screed and then fill it with a bag of fast screed after the door is installed.
