One last thing about this: I had read during my research that it could have tax implications?! I don't understand that. Could someone possibly clarify if there are any pitfalls here?
So the setup is:
Parents transfer the house to us (both children) half each (about 50K debt - my parents continue to pay it off). Property + land value < about 300K. We are all married. My sister already owns a property, we are still looking. My parents just continue living in the house.

I don’t understand where there would be anything tax-related here.

Thanks :)

The most critical risks are the previously unknown ones, which accordingly cannot be calculated. The unknown unknowns.

Risks in the area of taxes and/or law definitely belong there. You don’t see them coming and *bam* right in the face :)

Therefore: have it quickly clarified by the tax advisor, a good one at least already has most of the pitfalls ready. Even if no problems are actually identified, at least in the context of a small consultation the matter has been examined.

The exemption for children is €400,000 per child and inheritance case, what do you want to save there if the house is not even worth that much? And in the event of needing care, you of course want to contribute, but only on a voluntary basis & the parents' house must not be lost because of that. A nursing home place currently costs easily €4000, so the general public must cover the rest with tax money, what if everyone does it this smart way?

Honestly, many do it that smart. Deal with it daily.

As already mentioned. The structure and topic were the idea of my parents. I am only setting the framework and informing myself
