Hello everyone

The quick question upfront: What kind of permits / certificates etc. does a person need to carry out electrical work?

1) General work on the house network such as installing sockets, installing air conditioners (so not plugging a toaster into the socket)
2) If this is a different matter:
Connecting an inverter (from a photovoltaic system) to the house network and power grid. (It is not about the acceptance of feed-in at Axpo etc.), but rather the connection.

We had a renovation done. Unfortunately, the construction company hired an external (individual) person to carry out certain electrical work on the house. The whole thing seemed as professional as if I asked a "colleague" to do it. Since we paid good money for the whole thing and now some defects obviously exist, this must now be corrected. But I want to make sure that this is only done by a person who has the necessary permits.

I hope I am in the right place here and look forward to your experiences.
Thank you and regards
Felix

Hi,

That’s really annoying and would drive me up the wall. So anyone working on electrical installations must be a specialist. At least a skilled tradesman’s training is required for that. The person who accepts these electrical installations must also have a master craftsman’s certificate.

But now the EU has caused some confusion and the same standards don’t apply everywhere. But with us, it is clearly regulated.

Just talk to the site manager and he should know his certificates.

Good luck.

So whoever inspects the electrical wiring must have a master craftsman title. Laying the electrical wiring is done by so-called electrical technicians but skilled workers with training. We also have the assembly electrician who can also perform work.

Hello,

In any case, the qualifications in their respective fields are needed. Well, those who only lay the cables in a new building are often assistants. However, these people are not allowed to connect or approve.

I am not so convinced that a company operating throughout Europe only employs specialists. When I look at some construction sites, I am terrified, because the professional expertise is often forgotten there. This is also the case with the electrical system.

But there are still regulations and the company risks getting into trouble. Especially with electrical wiring, everything is taken very seriously. In the past, quite a few things have happened. I would want to see the electrician's certification from the company. If they refuse, then there is something fishy about the matter.
